Regal is so delighted to have been nominated by Special Event Magazine under the BEST NEW, INNOVATIVE EVENT PRODUCT / TECHNOLOGY category for the 3D AutoCAD Animation we created for a major event pitch!
One of the topics that I’ll be writing about soon on the blog is Transactional versus Transformational brands. An example of a transactional brand is one that exchanges products or services for a fee; whereas, a transformation brand evolves from answering a product or service need to connecting emotionally with customers.
After being brought into the pitch process for an ivy league University’s fundraising event, Regal sought to understand the client’s decision making process. After many meetings, we understood that we would be presenting our pitch to about 17 people (yes, you heard me right…17 people!). Made up of event planners, university executives, fire marshalls, police officials, our audience would not only be diverse, but would have their own areas of expertise and their own level of understanding of tents and events. We knew that simply saying what our vision was would not be enough…we had to show them.
So, in 3 short weeks, we set out to not only bring our vision to life, but create a process to do so. Since no software existed, we developed 3D AutoCAD animation specifically for our needs. What we ended up doing was building a ‘virtual’ event space – one that showed the client how we would level their hilly landscape, how we would construct the 100,000 sqare feet of tenting on the floor, how we would layout the space to accommodate a cocktail reception and sit-down dinner with entertainment and how we would get guests from the parking lot to the event without getting wet (should it rain). Not to mention, we showed this all with precise measurements and accommodated local fire and safety regulations. And, we ‘virtually’ walked through the environment just like a guest would. All this to bring each of the 17 key stakeholders onto the same page!
The result was that we not only won the business, but we gained credibility as event partners in the eyes of our customer. We were not selling tents we were selling peace of mind.
With all that said, please keep your fingers crossed for us! We’ll be attending the show in January.
PS – I wish we had a link to the animation for you to see. Hold tight though, this should be added to our website next month.
