Some pitfalls – transportation was severely off schedule and no one seemed to know whether it was free or where exactly the shuttle buses took you; lineups were crazy – wait times were up to 40 minutes to see an installation; and some of the exhibits were repetitious (note the green screens above).
The possible reasons – city funding was in risk (until the 11th hour) of being significantly cut back or pulled and corporate sponsors dropped out at the last minute.
Because I’m such a huge advocate of introducing art to the masses and the idea of the event (which is so successful in other metropolitan cities around the world), I will definitely be there to support next year. I just hope they can iron out some of the significant kinks by then.
