Aaaah. ‘Tis the season when everyone tires of 2008 and eagerly anticipates what is to come in 2009. So much so that I’ve even caught myself whistfully writing 2009 in the dates of my letters.
Since we’re close to ringing in the New Year, I’ve dedicated my recent (and future) posts to trend forecasting.
Today’s post is all about color…
Pantone, the world’s go-to resource for all things color has defined what we’ll all be wearing in Spring 2009. You can download their Color Report for more details. And since interiors and decor follow the catwalks, it should be a pretty good prediction for what we’ll see on the tabletops this Spring.
“Spring traditionally evokes a sense of freshness and new
beginnings, with sprouting shoots and blossoming flowers
that inspire designers to breakout of the winter doldrums.
Bright colors return to the top 10 list for spring ’09, as
designers incorporate vibrant pops into their collections, yet
temper the vibrancy with deeper, translucent or neutral tones.
“New York’s fashion designers encourage hopeful attitudes
with lively colors, while sophisticated, grounded hues
address the need for stability in times of economic
uncertainty,” said Leatrice Eiseman, executive director
of the Pantone Color Institute®.”
Another great resource is Pantone’s Home 2009 movie. So, grab your popcorn and start thinking Spring 2009. So long Winter 2008…you’re so yesterday!
